Next school year (2015-16), Columbia College will be celebrating the Centennial year from when artist, Georgia O'Keeffe taught and created at the college, producing important early works that marked the beginnings of O'Keeffe's mature artistic style.
The Centennial will be anchored by a main exhibition schedule in the Goodall Gallery, where one of the exhibits will include a K12 Juried Art Competition open to all South Carolina schools. The competition is a statewide competition entitled, 'A Natural Wonder: Exploring Georgia O'Keeffe's Columbia College Story." Lower Region Art Retreat
Treat yourself to a fun filled fabric dyeing workshop! Artist Emily Miller will be conducting a workshop introducing participants to a variety of dyeing methods including immersion, stencil, and reverse dyeing. After experimenting with the various processes on fabric swatches, each participant will receive a silk scarf to apply their favorite dyeing method.
When: Saturday, May 16th, 10:00am-2:30pm
Where: Windsor Hill Arts Infused Elementary School,8600 William Moultrie Dr., Charleston, SC 29420
Cost: $25 (includes lunch, dyeing materials, & a silk scarf)
Wear: clothes that are okay with a dash of dye!
Bring: rubber gloves, safety goggles, and an apron
Optional Fun: Bring an additional piece of fabric of your choice (100% cotton, linen or silk) such as a pillowcase, tea towel, or clothing.
